Nepenthes alata is the best-known species of Nepenthes. The pitchers vary from red to green, and are long and thin. After the first few generations of pitchers this climbing plant begins to wind around and form different, smaller pitchers. If the pitchers are dry when the plant is delivered we advise filling them (once only!) to a quarter with rainwater.
